An epitome of goodness, a perfect example of kindness and a gift of God's love, that was John Jabel Prom. How does one express such a devastating loss? An advocate and champion of the underdog, he was a active donor, contributor and supporter of any mission that adds value to the community both in the US and The Gambia. He was one of the founding members of The Gambia Christian Peoples Association of Washington DC (GCPA-DC) and remained the pillar. Passionate about education, he was very instrumental in the success of the association that has sponsored over 550 kids with scholarships in The Gambia. I write this with great sadness over the unimaginable loss of a friend and brother and husband to my cousin Pam Prom. A man who was made in the image of God. He loved his family fiercely. He was full of love, compassion and truly an extraordinary and exemplary man. To know John, is yo love John. One of a kind. One of his beliefs in life was the importance of being authentic with people, never judged or forced his opinions on anyone, but offered valuable and truthful advice all with a smile and abundance of love. Never have I ever seen him angry or out of character over the nearly five decades that I've know John. He was a special man. He was a great listener, a consoler, a friend, brother, cheer leader and always a peace maker. He absolutely loved life, family and friends, and as everyone who knew John knows he was the beginning, the middle and end of the party. He was the life of the party. The party starts when John arrives. He was a blessing and joy to all. He was selfless and determined and indeed has left his mark on so many people both young and old. Even though he's gone in physical form to another realm, his love will always be here to stay. We will miss his abundant spread of love and tireless positive energy. Good people never die. They live forever and so will our dear John. Our heartfelt condolences to Pam, Nini, Harry, Sukai and the entire Prom and Evans family in the US, Gambia and all over the world.
